The Rise of Brotox

Men Embracing Botox & Fillers

Men work hard, spending hours in the gym, focussing on diets and exercise and building their physiques. With all of that hard work on making what is under their clothing look good, they may forget a crucial component. Their face, which they wear out in public every day!

It has always been a “known fact” that when men age they tend to age more gracefully, they get away with a rugged look. But this is not always the case, or even if it is, it can’t last forever.

We are seeing more men concerned with ageing and their overall facial appearance. Dr. Bentley confirms, “Male anti-aging treatment is becoming a social norm. Men get that stuff needs maintenance, whether house, car or health.” And the stats* show it clearly: the top two most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures for men are:

  1. Botulinum Toxin (eg Botox®) and
  2. Hyaluronic Acid (eg Juvederm™), dwarfing all other procedures combined. We love treating this growing male demographic too!

Cosmetic and injectables treatments have historically appealed more to women, but not anymore. There have been many advances in the cosmetic industry over the past decade. In years past women would more commonly come in alone and keep their treatments private, whereas now we are now seeing more men in the clinic coming in with their partners and even by themselves. It can be a great bonding experience for couples. Some men need a little more encouragement from their partners to come in initially, but once they do, they are so glad that they started.

Not only are we seeing an increase in males starting to come in for wrinkle-relaxing injections for their foreheads or crow’s feet, we are starting to see a rise in the use of dermal fillers with facial contouring. Using advanced techniques, such as an expert use of MD Codes for Soft Lift treatment, we can give men more well-defined chins and chiseled jawlines. This creates a more masculine look, and even helps them to look and feel more attractive. Best of all, it is so subtle that people will notice that you look better, but they won’t know exactly what was done.

We all lose volume as we age, and the structure of the face changes in men and women alike. With men, this starts to happen anywhere from their mid-twenties to early thirties. This is due to bone density loss, shrinking of the facial fat pads, and changes in muscles and skin. Now we have the tools to address fine or deep lines in the male face, as well as volume loss. We can subtly reinflate droopy cheeks, smooth out hollowness under the eyes, or restore loss volume to temples to address the “peanut-head” shape that sometimes happens.

Almost every client we see (male and female), agrees that anti-ageing treatments are something they wished they had started earlier in life.  From manscaping laser hair removal to fat reduction to IPL, men are enhancing and maintaining… as they say, “An ounce of prevention is more valuable than a pound of correction.”
