Dr. Mandy Wong received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alberta in 1991 with Honors in Research for her work in the dermatology division of the Faculty of Medicine. She has been in family practice since 1993 and involved in the treatment of venous disease since 1995.
Since 2001, she has dedicated her work solely to the treatment of varicose veins and non-surgical cosmetic treatments. She has gone on to obtain further learning in many of her areas of interest, such as acupuncture and bioidentical hormone treatment. Most recently, she obtained a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from the University of Cardiff in Whales, and she is presently enrolled in the Honors in Skin Cancer program through the University of Queensland.
Dr. Wong is a member of the Canadian Society of Phlebology, American College of Phlebology, and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has attained Diplomate status with the American College of Phlebology as well as the American Board of Laser Surgery. She is a regular speaker at the national phlebology meetings through the Canadian Society of Phlebology and has travelled abroad to speak.
Dr. Wong is also a member of the Hackett Hemwall Foundation, a group that organizes medical missions to areas of need to treat people with severe debilitating venous disease. In 2010, Dr. Wong along with a clinic nurse travelled to Guadalajara, Mexico for one such mission. In spring of 2011, she also travelled to Honduras for a week long medical mission.
